about

Shin Yang is an artist and spatial designer based in Los Angeles and Taipei. Rooted in her academic background in art and architecture, her multidisciplinary approach explores diverse ways of experiencing space. Her work delves into themes of urban environments, memory, and spatial perception, examining both the psychological and physical dimensions of spaces. Her ongoing project, Palimpsest, funded by the National Culture and Arts Foundation Grant, investigates the fluidity of spatial memory and its representations through an AI-driven immersive experience.

As a recipient of the John K. Branner Fellowship, Yang embarked on a three-month research journey across nine countries in 2022. Earlier, in 2017, she participated in a six-month exchange program at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. She received the Chester Miller Fellowship in 2023 for her project Detours & Deviations and earned her Master of Architecture from UC Berkeley the same year, following a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Taipei National University of the Arts in 2018. Yang actively collaborates with visual artists, architects, curators, and scenic designers.

1996 born in Taipei, Taiwan.
