The core concept in Plato’s theory of Forms asserts that objects perceived through our senses are mere imitations of their Forms, which serve as eternal prototypes for each specific object. The non-physical yet substantial realm of Forms represents the true reality, and no perfect replicas exist in the tangible world.
In an age inundated with countless images, these prototypes easily get shaped by the multitude of rapidly disseminated visuals. During my initial visit to Europe in 2017, I keenly felt the disparity between Platonic Forms and the existing representations, especially when confronted with the European countryside. The reality differed greatly from my preconceived notions. Over the years, I began to amass a collection of images that had contributed to the concept of the “countryside” in my mind. Country Road now embodies those images I gathered, along with a house-like structure intricately sculpted through projections.
